Chelsea Financial Services Sponsors Website and ADA Compliance Software for Where-to-Turn.org, making site more accessible for those with disabilities

STATEN ISLAND, NEW YORK, October 18, 2021 — Chelsea Financial Services announced that they have increased their sponsorship level with Where-to-Turn.org by donating the installation and annual agreement for ADACompliaSite, an ADA Website Compliance Software, improving site access for those with disabilities and/or visual impairments.

    >>>View the Official National Press Release here.

“We had updated our website with ADACompliaSite.com software in order to make our CHFS.com site more compliant with the the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).” stated John Pisapia, President of Staten Island-based Chelsea Financial Services. “We’ve had such amazing feedback about our site’s enhanced accessibility that it just made sense to help Where To Turn, this amazing New York City-based non-profit organization, upgrade their site to be compliant and more accessible as well.”

Chelsea Financial Services has been a sponsor for Where To Turn for some years now, providing annual support, collections and marketing for Where-To-Turn.org's Annual Holiday Toy Drive, including a recent “Christmas in August” Toy Drive for 2021 to help get a jump start on collecting toys this year. “Our Where-To-Turn.org 2021 Toy Drive will return right after Thanksgiving and provide thousands of toys for children of families in need.” stated Dennis McKeon, Founder of Where To Turn, a crises relief organization. “We look forward to Chelsea Financial Services continued involvement in sponsoring our toy drives and our website, including this recent donation for the installation and annual contract for the accessibility software. As a non-profit, we serve a lot of Seniors with our Snow-Shoveling and Senior Prom programs, and we absolutely support the Disabled as well with various programs, so providing better website accessibility is not only helpful, it’s really a requirement.”

Chelsea Financial Services previously sponsored Where To Turn’s website re-design, along with continued quarterly sponsorship of Where-To-Turn.org's updates, maintenance and hosting plans. “Sponsoring ADACompliasite was a logical next step,” mentioned Pisapia. “Many of the people that Where To Turn serves in Staten Island have reached their retirement years, so this software is extremely helpful in improving website accessibility for them. And, to be honest, this software helps me see my own site better…I wish it was installed on every site that I visit!”

Frank Cilento, Registered Representative at Chelsea Financial Services, was the one who first introduced Pisapia and Chelsea Financial to this great organization. “I love how accessibility is the focus of this recent sponsorship.” stated Cilento. “And it’s even better with how easy ADACompliaSite is to use, especially that the software remembers your choices for the next visit. With just a couple of clicks, visitors can change the colors, make text larger, turn the site black and white, and more with over 38 one-click controls. And they can use any combination to create a design that’s to their liking or needs.” added Cilento.

Please join Chelsea Financial Services in supporting this great organization with a donation via their website, Where-to-Turn.org, or by donating toys during the first weeks of December. You can deliver or ship to Chelsea Financial Services, 242 Main Street, Staten Island, NY 10307, Monday - Friday from 9am - 5pm..

Some History on ADA Compliance for Business Websites

The Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) was passed in 1990 and prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities, ensuring that they have equal rights and opportunities. A software “widget” like NthDegreeGroup.net’s ADACompliaSite software assists websites in following both the ADA legal requirements and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), adopted internationally as standards for accessible website design.

ADACompliaSite software is accessed via an accessibility icon that floats on every page. When clicked, site visitors can change design elements of the website with just 1-2 clicks, making the site instantly more accessible and individually tailored to their needs, without expensive re-design or the need to hire costly ADA Consultants.

Photo of the Twin Towers taken by Chelsea Financial Services Registered Rep Rick Saltarelli

Commemorating the 20th Anniversary of 9/11  [September 11]

STATEN ISLAND, NEW YORK, Sept 10, 2021 — To commemorate the 20th Anniversary of the Twin Towers Disaster, Chelsea Financial Services presents "Brothers in the Sky", a beautiful tribute poem written by one of our Registered Reps, Rick Saltarelli and "The Story of Stronger", a moving documentary and tribute song written by our Director of Marketing, Barry Lippold (Marc Ison).

“On August 16, 2001, I had my camera and took a photo of the Twin Towers from the ferry. I always called the Twin Towers "the brothers in the sky..." In the weeks following 9/11, while riding the NY Waterway ferry from Weehawken to Wall Street, where I worked at the time, a thousand thoughts ran through my head as we passed where these buildings once stood. I started jotting them down. Those scribblings evolved into a poem, which I titled "Brothers in the Sky", and is dedicated to those who lost their lives, the families living without their loved ones, and the heroes who responded to help so that we will 'Never Forget.'”  Click here to read "Brothers in the Sky."

    – Rick Saltarelli, Registered Representative, Chelsea Financial Services

"I had an appointment in WTC1 at 8:30am on September 11, 2001. Fate intervened and I was called the night before to change it to 9:30am. I went through the opposing emotions of "thankful" and "guilt" for a long time, in addition to trying to deal with the trauma of that day.  I wrote the tribute song "Stronger" as a way to deal with the pain, and to try to bring rememberance and hope from that painful day.  For the 20th Anniversary, I was asked to do a documentary of the making of the song and my experience that day and beyond, using the song as a thread throughout. We must always remember, stay united...Never forget."  Click "Watch on YouTube (above)" or here to see "The Story of Stronger"

Chelsea Financial Services Installs New ADA Compliance Software [adacompliasite.com] to make their Website CHFS.com more Accessible for those with Disabilities

STATEN ISLAND, NEW YORK, July 23, 2021 — Chelsea Financial Services announced that their website, CHFS.com, was recently updated with new ADA Compliance Software, allowing those with disabilities and/or visual impairments to quickly change design elements of their website, making the site more accessible.

“We recently updated our website with the express goal of making our site compliant with the laws and requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).” stated John Pisapia, President of Staten Island-based Chelsea Financial Services. “However, we didn’t want to just be more complaint with the ADA Act; we also wanted to make our site more friendly and accessible to our clients and visitors with disabilities in general.” added Pisapia.

After extensive research comparing various vendors and software solutions, Chelsea Financial Services purchased and installed an ADA Compliance software solution from Nth Degree Media and Management Group, Inc. (Nth Degree Group / nthdegreegroup.net). Their software solution allows visitors to redesign the site in an instant for better readability and accessibility, especially helpful for those with visual impairments or any other disabilities that would otherwise limit access. “A visitor simply clicks on the handicapped icon floating left-screen-center on every page. With just a couple of clicks, users can change the colors, make text larger, turn the site black and white…Even have the page read aloud to them, and so much more.” added Christopher (Chris) Vetrano, Registered Representative at Chelsea Financial Services.

“After configuration, implementing the software is very easy. A snippet of code is placed on each page that enables the ADA CompliaSite (adacompliasite.com) software, allowing any user or visitor to make instantaneous changes to the site’s design aspects, making the site much more accessible.” described Pisapia. “There was some additional work to provide descriptions in the tags (code) for every image and graphic, which Nth Degree Group handled as well. Also, we wanted to make any complaints or feedback about accessibility easy to send via a new Contact form. Besides those two steps, the software automatically takes care of the rest of the details, allowing the site to be customized to fit any particular visitor’s needs.”

SOME HISTORY ON ADA COMPLIANCE FOR BUSINESS WEBSITES
The Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) was passed in 1990 and prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities, ensuring that they have equal rights and opportunities. Software like Nth Degree Group’s ADA CompliaSite software assists websites in following Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).

Applicants are welcomed to inquire via Chelsea Financial’s Recruiting page.

“As we head into our 22nd year, we are excited to add additional Registered Representatives and Financial Advisors to expand the number of cities in which we have Reps placed.” said John Pisapia, President of Chelsea Financial Services. “We are currently licensed in 51 States and Territories and have Representatives in 20 States servicing clients nationwide. With this initiative, we hope to add many more cities and states and continue our expansion.”

“Chelsea Financial Services has no minimum production requirements and no proprietary financial products, so Registered Representatives and Financial Advisors are able to work freely and independently without management pressure to sell certain securities.” added Christopher (Chris) Vetrano, Registered Representative at Chelsea Financial. “Reps really appreciate that they don’t have to meet sales or minimum production quotas…Both of these features of our BD (Broker-Dealer) allow them to do what’s in the financial best interest of each and every client.”

Chelsea Financial Services has a long history as a successful National Broker Dealer based in New York City. Their Staten Island, NY Headquarters was established in 1999. Chelsea Financial recently widely expanded their client base by recently purchasing the brokerage assets of Bodell Overcash Anderson and Co., Inc., an investment firm with over 50 years of service.

“We are especially proud of the national support that we provide our Reps which never paused during the COVID-19 pandemic. In fact, we have many mechanisms in place to allow Reps to easily transition to Chelsea Financial.” said Stephen Sebold, APMA®, Chelsea Financial’s Compliance Officer. “We clear our transactions through Hilltop Securities, a Diversified Investment Bank with 70+ years of history that has online portals and a multitude of financial tools for our Reps. South Florida Businesses Encouraged to Participate in The Lord’s Place 2021 Virtual Event “SleepIn for SleepOut” to Help End Homelessness and Foster Team Building in their Organizations

WEST PALM BEACH, FLORIDA, Feb. 16, 2021  — SleepOutTLP.org charitable partner Chelsea Financial Services encourages South Florida businesses to participate in The Lord’s Place 2021 Virtual “SleepIn for SleepOut” Event on April 9th to raise funds and awareness to help break the cycle of homelessness in Palm Beach County while fostering Team Building.

John Pisapia, President of Staten Island-based Chelsea Financial, encourages other South Florida businesses and organizations, including other non-profits, to participate in SleepIn for SleepOut. “It’s an amazing event that can be utilized as an excellent and affordable team building exercise. The fact that it’s completely virtual again this year means anyone can attend from anywhere!”

Anne Noble, Chief Advancement Officer of The Lord’s Place, adds: “SleepIn for SleepOut is more than an event... it’s an experience. Between the moving client stories and the candle light ceremony at the end, the event leaves an imprint on our community in such an impactful way. When teams get involved, it’s even more powerful, because they are coming together for a local and national common cause, and feel like they are part of a solution.”

All of the funds raised via SleepOutTLP.org help The Lord’s Place fund the mission of the agency – to break the cycle of homelessness for each individual or family who walks through their doors.

“SleepOut” has always had a “SleepIn” component, where participants who couldn’t attend the event were still able to participate in fundraising to support their most vulnerable neighbors. However, due to the community-wide efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19, last year’s event went completely virtual, with more than 6,000 Attendee/Participants from 14 states. It was a resounding success: The 2020 virtual event raised more than $684,000, including a $300,000 matching gift from the Honorable Ann Brown of Palm Beach. This year, The Lord’s Place set the 2021 online Fundraising Goal at $375,000.

To make participation easy and fun, The Lord’s Place chose DonorPowered.com, a Social Enterprise partner, as their online solution for SleepOutTLP.org's fundraising and event management. In fact, it was Nth Degree Group, the developer of DonorPowered.com that first connected Chelsea Financial Services to the event. “I started donating to the event 4 years ago and became a sponsor last year. I especially love that this event is not just about donating to a cause.” stated Pisapia. “It’s also about education…Teaching us about homelessness while joining together all members of the community. And the team building opportunities are just “icing on the cake” for businesses.”

Similar to a “walk" or “run” type of fundraiser, participants go online to renew, create teams or participate as individuals to SleepIn for SleepOut. Online tools make it easy to encourage donations via email and/or social networks to support their participation. Registrants can sign-up in minutes and begin their fundraising right away by sharing their customized fundraising pages via social media. In fact, registration is free this year if you register using the discount code “FreeEvent.”

Please join Chelsea Financial in supporting SleepIn for SleepOut by either creating your own team (https://sleepouttlp.com/register) or by joining our team: https://sleepouttlp.com/team/?show=46

    2021 SLEEPOUT/SLEEPIN EVENT INFORMATION
The Lord’s Place SleepIn for SleepOut Virtual Program will be held on Friday, April 9, 2021 online, from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm, with an optional, next day 8:00 am Virtual “Morning Reflection” on Saturday, April 10, 2021. Register online for free with the discount code “FreeEvent” at SleepOutTLP.org/register.

Chelsea Financial Services Acquires Brokerage Assets of Jamestown, NY Firm Bodell Overcash Anderson and Co., Inc.

STATEN ISLAND, NEW YORK, October 8, 2020 —

Chelsea Financial Services is proud to announce the acquisition of the customer assets of Bodell Overcash Anderson and Co., Inc., an Investment Firm based in Chautauqua County, New York, with over 50 years of service.

“We are proud to continue the excellent service and support that Bodell Overcash Anderson’s clients have come to expect.” stated John Pisapia, President of Staten Island-based Chelsea Financial Services. “For over 50 years, the ownership team of Daniel Overcash and John Anderson served investors from nearly half of the United States, with a majority of their clients coming from Western New York and surrounding states. That’s an amazing history to add to our established national book of business.” added Pisapia.

As a part of the acquisition that was effective as of September 24, 2020, Dan Overcash, CFP (Certified Financial Planner) will join Chelsea Financial Services as a Registered Representative/Securities Principal to continue serving the thousands of clients they have gained over the firm’s long, successful trajectory. Overcash’s partner, John Anderson, will be retiring. “We are excited to become an integral part of Chelsea Financial Services’ 20 years of being a successful national Broker/Dealer.” remarked Overcash. “We were introduced by our mutual clearing firm, Hilltop Securities, so we had a connection and a strong recommendation immediately. This made the process seamless, really. The transition went very smoothly since our client lists could be easily integrated under the same Hilltop Securities Asset Management System that we had been using for 27 years.

Bodell Overcash Anderson was founded on April 7, 1970 in Jamestown, New York by partners Bodell, Overcash and Anderson. After 2 years in business, Overcash and Anderson bought out Carl Bodell and continued building their business for 48 more years. Their investment focus was always in general securities, assisting clients with retirement plans, wealth building and portfolio management, along with other financial services.

The two firms also had many other things in common besides Hilltop Securities and service excellence: Deep-rooted, long-standing connections in their communities and both local and national charitable giving. “Both John Anderson and I were actively involved in non-profits and on the boards of many organizations, including The Chautauqua Region Community Foundation, The Roger Tory Peterson Institute of Natural History, The Robert H. Jackson Center and many more.” said Overcash. Added Pisapia: “Their deep rooted history, spanning more than 50 years, developed a strong client base that we are excited to bring on board…And since Dan is joining us, their clients will continue to be in great hands.”

Chelsea Financial Services Donates Textbooks to Startup Advisory Group's Investment Community, created to Advance Financial Literacy for Minorities

Chelsea Financial Supports Financial Literacy in Minority Communities

STATEN ISLAND, NEW YORK, July 29, 2020 — Chelsea Financial Services is proud to announce their support of Startup Advisory Group’s Investment Community with a donation to provide much needed textbooks and recommended reading for its inaugural 40 Members.

“This amazing group was started by one of my previous Financial Advisors.” stated John Pisapia, President of Chelsea Financial Services (chfs.com). “Jeffery Derose started this community group to help minorities learn how the financial system works with the practical goal of helping Members learn the fundamentals of investing and trading.”

Derose, a seasoned financial professional, simply wanted to help minority families “change their outcomes” by bringing financial knowledge to an underserved community. When Derose left Chelsea Financial Services, he started a web design company, Startup Advisory Group, 4 years ago. Although he is no longer a Financial Advisor, Derose knew that his Registered Representative experience expressly prepared him for this new challenge.

“I launched this first community group only a few months ago,” added Derose. “and already, we have 40 Members actively learning and engaged in the stock market. It’s fantastic to see their hunger for knowledge about finance turn into the beginning steps of building wealth. In fact, “wealth-building” was something many of our Members never even thought was possible for them; they didn’t know where to turn to get the guidance and training necessary to take those first steps.”

The ultimate goal of the group is to help minority communities build generational wealth via sound financial education, mentoring and coaching, primarily in trading and investments. The program utilizes content from TD Ameritrade’s learning center along with instruction on other popular research tools and information sources to help members generate ideas for their investment strategies.

“By week three of the program, members are already generating investment ideas independently, and many are doing their first trades by Week 4.” stated Derose. Once trading starts, the group doesn’t end; the mentoring continues indefinitely. Recommended books begin what is hopefully a lifelong effort of continuous learning and constant improvement.

Derose is a longtime resident of Staten Island, NY, where Chelsea Financial Services is based. “I approached Chelsea Financial, my previous employer, and they immediately stepped up to provide the funds for various books and support materials for the group.” added Derose. “There is no fee for joining nor attending, plus, now they can use the money they would have needed to spend on books to actually invest in their future!”

JOIN CHELSEA FINANCIAL SERVICES IN SUPPORT THE MINORITY INVESTMENT COMMUNITY
Please join Chelsea Financial Services in supporting Startup Advisory Group’s Investment Community and their already life-changing program launch. Any additional funds raised will be used to enhance their current program while providing the financial support to expand to other geographic areas with online/on-demand learning. Donations can be made via Paypal to paypal.me/StartupAdvisoryGroup. To find out more about the group or to enroll, please contact Jeffrey Derose at jderose@startupadvisorygroup.co

Chelsea Financial Services Encourages South Florida Businesses to "SleepOut" to Help End Homelessness while Fostering Team Building in their Organizations

STATEN ISLAND, NEW YORK, FEBRUARY 11, 2020 — Chelsea Financial Services has become a sponsor for “SleepOut”, The Lord’s Place 13th annual event to raise funds and awareness to help break the cycle of homelessness in Palm Beach County, FL.

John Pisapia, President of Staten Island-based Chelsea Financial, first heard about this unique event through his Marketing Director, Barry Lippold. “I have multiple Financial Advisors based in South Florida, including Lake Worth.” stated Pisapia. “When I found out that the event was designed to create mindfulness about homelessness in addition to raising funds, I just had to step in and support the cause. I want to encourage other South Florida companies to participate in SleepOut; It’s an amazing event that can be utilized as an excellent and affordable Team Building exercise.”

“There are so many amazing facets to the event, including activities for the kids, BBQ, live music and a beautiful mission program.” added Lippold. “It’s quite remarkable what The Lord’s Place does for the homeless on a daily basis, but this event really brings the meaning home to every participant by taking their home out of the equation – just for a night; It really brings all of our neighbors together.”

“SleepOut” also has a “SleepIn” version of their event where participants who can’t attend the event can still participate in fundraising to support their most vulnerable neighbors.

Meredith Fontenot, SleepoutTLP.com's Webmaster, explains the online fundraising aspect of the event: “Just like a walk or run, participants go online to create teams or participate as individuals to SleepOut/In. Online tools make it easy to get donations via social networks to support their participation. Registrants can sign-up in minutes and begin their fundraising right away by sharing their customized fundraising pages via social media.”

Anne Noble, Chief Advancement Officer of The Lord’s Place, adds: “All of the funds raised via SleepOutTLP.com help us fund the mission of the agency – to break the cycle of homelessness for each individual or family who walks through our doors. The programs we have help people find homes, jobs, and a purpose in life.”

DonorPowered, a WordPress plug-in that powers the SleepOutTLP.com website, was developed for The Lord’s Place via a Social Enterprise created by Barry Lippold of Nth Degree Group. A percentage of all sales of licenses of the software is given back to The Lord's Place: “They were instrumental in helping my team envision this amazing software. By creating it with and for a non-profit, we were ensured of developing software that really met the needs of all types of event fundraising.”

Chelsea Financial Services’ Baron “Barry” Willis Leverages His Financial Advisor Experience for Positive Political Change

STATEN ISLAND, NEW YORK, December 3, 2019 — Chelsea Financial Services Representative Baron T. “Barry” Willis discovered the best way to quell his complaints about government overspending and ineffectiveness was to stop complaining about it and get involved. Alpine Fire Protection District Logo

“I have been a Financial Advisor and Insurance Broker for over 25 years. I knew my experience in finance could really translate to government, especially in helping Boards and Committees make appropriate financial decisions for our communities.” said Willis. “As a longtime resident of Alpine, California, my first step into government was with the Alpine Fire Protection District.”

Willis, a Financial Advisor who has been with Staten Island-based Chelsea Financial Services since 2015, started to campaign in Alpine in July 2018 to challenge an incumbent who hadn’t been challenged for many years. “I literally went door-to-door, knocking on over 2500 doors and standing out in front of Alpine’s local Albertson’s probably 50 times to meet as many residents as I could to ask for their support and vote.”

Willis’ efforts paid off; He was elected to their Board and started serving in November 2018. One year in, Willis is proudest of the budget surplus that Alpine Fire Protection District continues to have. “Government overspending is one of my prime complaints about government in general, so keeping a budget surplus year after year shows fiscal responsibility. In this dangerous fire climate, it is especially important to have adequate funds to support our Firefighters and our Fire Marshall to provide them with all the tools they need to protect our communities, without going into a budget deficit.”

Willis didn’t stop his foray into politics with his Alpine Fire work; He also campaigned and was elected as a Commissioner on the San Diego LAFCO Board (Local Agency Formation Commission), 2019-2023, where Commissioner Willis votes on critical countywide issues like land use and annexation.

Willis is married to Jeannette Clark, a Psychotherapist who is in private practice. They have 2 daughters who are attending San Diego State University. Willis graduated in Political Science at the University of California, San Diego.

As a Financial Advisor, Willis focuses on Retirement Planning, but also handles Life and Health insurance for his many clients. Adds Willis: “My role as a Financial Advisor requires me to listen carefully and be responsive to my clients’ needs, two skills that I think we need in every Public Servant.”
