Chelsea Financial Services Acquires Brokerage Assets of Jamestown, NY Firm Bodell Overcash Anderson and Co., Inc.
STATEN ISLAND, NEW YORK, October 8, 2020 —
Chelsea Financial Services is proud to announce the acquisition of the customer assets of Bodell Overcash Anderson and Co., Inc., an Investment Firm based in Chautauqua County, New York, with over 50 years of service.
“We are proud to continue the excellent service and support that Bodell Overcash Anderson’s clients have come to expect.” stated John Pisapia, President of Staten Island-based Chelsea Financial Services. “For over 50 years, the ownership team of Daniel Overcash and John Anderson served investors from nearly half of the United States, with a majority of their clients coming from Western New York and surrounding states. That’s an amazing history to add to our established national book of business.” added Pisapia.
As a part of the acquisition that was effective as of September 24, 2020, Dan Overcash, CFP (Certified Financial Planner) will join Chelsea Financial Services as a Registered Representative/Securities Principal to continue serving the thousands of clients they have gained over the firm’s long, successful trajectory. Overcash’s partner, John Anderson, will be retiring. “We are excited to become an integral part of Chelsea Financial Services’ 20 years of being a successful national Broker/Dealer.” remarked Overcash. “We were introduced by our mutual clearing firm, Hilltop Securities, so we had a connection and a strong recommendation immediately. This made the process seamless, really. The transition went very smoothly since our client lists could be easily integrated under the same Hilltop Securities Asset Management System that we had been using for 27 years.
Bodell Overcash Anderson was founded on April 7, 1970 in Jamestown, New York by partners Bodell, Overcash and Anderson. After 2 years in business, Overcash and Anderson bought out Carl Bodell and continued building their business for 48 more years. Their investment focus was always in general securities, assisting clients with retirement plans, wealth building and portfolio management, along with other financial services.
The two firms also had many other things in common besides Hilltop Securities and service excellence: Deep-rooted, long-standing connections in their communities and both local and national charitable giving. “Both John Anderson and I were actively involved in non-profits and on the boards of many organizations, including The Chautauqua Region Community Foundation, The Roger Tory Peterson Institute of Natural History, The Robert H. Jackson Center and many more.” said Overcash. Added Pisapia: “Their deep rooted history, spanning more than 50 years, developed a strong client base that we are excited to bring on board…And since Dan is joining us, their clients will continue to be in great hands.”
Chelsea Financial Supports Financial Literacy in Minority Communities
STATEN ISLAND, NEW YORK, July 29, 2020 — Chelsea Financial Services is proud to announce their support of Startup Advisory Group’s Investment Community with a donation to provide much needed textbooks and recommended reading for its inaugural 40 Members.
“This amazing group was started by one of my previous Financial Advisors.” stated John Pisapia, President of Chelsea Financial Services (chfs.com). “Jeffery Derose started this community group to help minorities learn how the financial system works with the practical goal of helping Members learn the fundamentals of investing and trading.”
Derose, a seasoned financial professional, simply wanted to help minority families “change their outcomes” by bringing financial knowledge to an underserved community. When Derose left Chelsea Financial Services, he started a web design company, Startup Advisory Group, 4 years ago. Although he is no longer a Financial Advisor, Derose knew that his Registered Representative experience expressly prepared him for this new challenge.
“I launched this first community group only a few months ago,” added Derose. “and already, we have 40 Members actively learning and engaged in the stock market. It’s fantastic to see their hunger for knowledge about finance turn into the beginning steps of building wealth. In fact, “wealth-building” was something many of our Members never even thought was possible for them; they didn’t know where to turn to get the guidance and training necessary to take those first steps.”
The ultimate goal of the group is to help minority communities build generational wealth via sound financial education, mentoring and coaching, primarily in trading and investments. The program utilizes content from TD Ameritrade’s learning center along with instruction on other popular research tools and information sources to help members generate ideas for their investment strategies.
“By week three of the program, members are already generating investment ideas independently, and many are doing their first trades by Week 4.” stated Derose. Once trading starts, the group doesn’t end; the mentoring continues indefinitely. Recommended books begin what is hopefully a lifelong effort of continuous learning and constant improvement.
Derose is a longtime resident of Staten Island, NY, where Chelsea Financial Services is based. “I approached Chelsea Financial, my previous employer, and they immediately stepped up to provide the funds for various books and support materials for the group.” added Derose. “There is no fee for joining nor attending, plus, now they can use the money they would have needed to spend on books to actually invest in their future!”

Chelsea Financial Services Encourages South Florida Businesses to "SleepOut" to Help End Homelessness while Fostering Team Building in their Organizations
STATEN ISLAND, NEW YORK, FEBRUARY 11, 2020 — Chelsea Financial Services has become a sponsor for “SleepOut”, The Lord’s Place 13th annual event to raise funds and awareness to help break the cycle of homelessness in Palm Beach County, FL.
John Pisapia, President of Staten Island-based Chelsea Financial, first heard about this unique event through his Marketing Director, Barry Lippold. “I have multiple Financial Advisors based in South Florida, including Lake Worth.” stated Pisapia. “When I found out that the event was designed to create mindfulness about homelessness in addition to raising funds, I just had to step in and support the cause. I want to encourage other South Florida companies to participate in SleepOut; It’s an amazing event that can be utilized as an excellent and affordable Team Building exercise.”
“There are so many amazing facets to the event, including activities for the kids, BBQ, live music and a beautiful mission program.” added Lippold. “It’s quite remarkable what The Lord’s Place does for the homeless on a daily basis, but this event really brings the meaning home to every participant by taking their home out of the equation – just for a night; It really brings all of our neighbors together.”
“SleepOut” also has a “SleepIn” version of their event where participants who can’t attend the event can still participate in fundraising to support their most vulnerable neighbors.
Meredith Fontenot, SleepoutTLP.com's Webmaster, explains the online fundraising aspect of the event: “Just like a walk or run, participants go online to create teams or participate as individuals to SleepOut/In. Online tools make it easy to get donations via social networks to support their participation. Registrants can sign-up in minutes and begin their fundraising right away by sharing their customized fundraising pages via social media.”
Anne Noble, Chief Advancement Officer of The Lord’s Place, adds: “All of the funds raised via SleepOutTLP.com help us fund the mission of the agency – to break the cycle of homelessness for each individual or family who walks through our doors. The programs we have help people find homes, jobs, and a purpose in life.”
DonorPowered, a WordPress plug-in that powers the SleepOutTLP.com website, was developed for The Lord’s Place via a Social Enterprise created by Barry Lippold of Nth Degree Group. A percentage of all sales of licenses of the software is given back to The Lord's Place: “They were instrumental in helping my team envision this amazing software. By creating it with and for a non-profit, we were ensured of developing software that really met the needs of all types of event fundraising.”

SleepOut will be held on Friday, April 3, 2020 at the United Methodist Church of the Palm Beaches, from 5pm-8am with “Lights Out!” at 11pm, where attendees can stay to SleepOut, or return home to SleepIn.

Chelsea Financial Services’ Baron “Barry” Willis Leverages His Financial Advisor Experience for Positive Political Change
STATEN ISLAND, NEW YORK, December 3, 2019 — Chelsea Financial Services Representative Baron T. “Barry” Willis discovered the best way to quell his complaints about government overspending and ineffectiveness was to stop complaining about it and get involved.
“I have been a Financial Advisor and Insurance Broker for over 25 years. I knew my experience in finance could really translate to government, especially in helping Boards and Committees make appropriate financial decisions for our communities.” said Willis. “As a longtime resident of Alpine, California, my first step into government was with the Alpine Fire Protection District.”
Willis, a Financial Advisor who has been with Staten Island-based Chelsea Financial Services since 2015, started to campaign in Alpine in July 2018 to challenge an incumbent who hadn’t been challenged for many years. “I literally went door-to-door, knocking on over 2500 doors and standing out in front of Alpine’s local Albertson’s probably 50 times to meet as many residents as I could to ask for their support and vote.”
Willis’ efforts paid off; He was elected to their Board and started serving in November 2018. One year in, Willis is proudest of the budget surplus that Alpine Fire Protection District continues to have. “Government overspending is one of my prime complaints about government in general, so keeping a budget surplus year after year shows fiscal responsibility. In this dangerous fire climate, it is especially important to have adequate funds to support our Firefighters and our Fire Marshall to provide them with all the tools they need to protect our communities, without going into a budget deficit.”
Willis didn’t stop his foray into politics with his Alpine Fire work; He also campaigned and was elected as a Commissioner on the San Diego LAFCO Board (Local Agency Formation Commission), 2019-2023, where Commissioner Willis votes on critical countywide issues like land use and annexation.
Willis is married to Jeannette Clark, a Psychotherapist who is in private practice. They have 2 daughters who are attending San Diego State University. Willis graduated in Political Science at the University of California, San Diego.
As a Financial Advisor, Willis focuses on Retirement Planning, but also handles Life and Health insurance for his many clients. Adds Willis: “My role as a Financial Advisor requires me to listen carefully and be responsive to my clients’ needs, two skills that I think we need in every Public Servant.”
